To All,
My family is greatly indebted to Family Promise of Acadiana. Their charitable kindness and emotional support have afforded us a chance to replenish our resources, as well as, restructure our management of them. The network has arranged so many unexpected services to promote self-sufficiency that my initial suspicions of the program just being a welcome crutch have been buried.
There is not a whole lot support for a homeless male with children. When I was stranded while visiting Lafayette, away from my spouse with two of my sons, the barriers to shelter were impassable. Many seemed surprised to find a man in my situation. The best advice I got was to place my kids with friends or family and go to the men’s shelter. A family shelter is a blessing, but Family Promise in its mission to teach us to fish, is divine.
I am confident that my family will succeed in providing for itself thanks to the opportunity that has been given to us. I pray the program will succeed in order to bestow this great gift upon others, and I wish to express my deep gratitude and great appreciation to all of the compassionate people of Family Promise.
Most Sincerely,
Family Promise Guest
